The city of Poughkeepsie is rolling out a new tree restoration program.

The program is set to remove ash trees that have been killed by Emerald Ash Borer infestations. City officials say the infestations have severely impacted about 50 trees in the city that now need to be removed.

The Emerald Ash Borer is an invasive species that has caused thousands of trees to die all across the country. The plan is being funded by a grant program by the DEC.

Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison says the program is set to begin in the fall.
