The man accused of stabbing his former girlfriend to death at Belmont Park over the weekend is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Jose Franco-Martinez is facing second-degree murder charges.

Police say he stabbed the woman around 6:30 a.m. Sunday while she was working with a horse at the race track.

Security discovered her body when they saw that same horse walking around unattended.

A worker at Belmont Park told Spectrum News NY1 in Spanish they witnessed the incident.

"Well, he arrived. She was working. The guy came walking and he attacked her. He stabbed her numerous times. We all wanted to help her but the man began attacking people with the weapon he got. It was tragic. I was in shock, all my co workers were in shock. We all tried to help her but we could not do nothing," said the worker.

No one else was injured.
