MONTICELLO, N.Y. — A celebrity chef educated in the Hudson Valley is back in the area to open a restaurant at Resorts World Catskills.

The resort casino celebrated the grand opening for the Italian steakhouse Cellaio Saturday. It’s one of several restaurants at the casino in Monticello.

Chef Scott Conant, who's appeared on the Food Network, is also a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, located in Hyde Park.

He says he wants to create an enjoyable experience for everyone who visits.

"We're serious about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously," said Conant. "So, I think it's important for me that customers come in, guests come in and they have fun, they enjoy themselves, right?”

While Conant has experience serving steak at his other restaurants, he says Cellaio is his first steakhouse.
