Newburgh residents continue to help and support each other days after an EF0 tornado hit, causing widespread damage and power outages.

Gidney Avenue Memorial School served food during the day to ensure children and families didn't miss meals.

Some Newburgh residents visited St. Mary's outreach pantry on Friday to stock up on items after power outages caused food to spoil.

"I didn't know we were going to have the power outage so it just worked out great," said Marietta Allen, Director of St. Mary's Outreach. "We have about  45 items that people can walk away with today, around $200 worth of food."

Central Hudson reports that power has been restored to 95 percent of homes affected by Tuesday's storm, including several parts of Newburgh. Around 1,600 homes serviced by Central Hudson remain without power in Orange County.
