MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Troopers say one person is dead after a small plane crashed in Middletown Saturday morning.

The plane crashed into a tree in a swampy area across from Cycle Motion, a motorcycle shop.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane had just taken off from Randall Airport.

Hebrew Union College identified the victim as Rabbi Aaron D. Panken.

The other person in the plane is currently at Orange Medical Center. There is no word on their condition.

The FAA says they and the National Transportation Safety Board are still investigating the crash.
