Newburgh SCATS has taken in six kittens a good Samaritan found abandoned in a carrier on Temple Avenue.

The organization is calling the kittens the "crooked tail babies," since three of the 6-day-old kittens have kinks in their tails.

The kittens were reportedly dumped in a carrier with their mom with only a storage tote full of dry food next to it. Employees at a nearby business first discovered the family of cats and called Newburgh SCATS, who are caring for the young kittens before determining if they can be put up for adoption.

The organization is asking for donations of small cans of cat food or any other supplies that could help the kittens as they recover.
