MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- Residents of Monticello vote no to the $110 million proposed capital improvement project for the school district.

This isn't the first time a project was voted down for that district. Last year residents voted no on a $10 million project. That was defeated by a 30 vote margin.

The proposal included a traffic center, building repairs, and reopening a closed elementary school. This year school officials added athletic field improvements.

Voters had mixed opinions on the proposal.

The district superintendent has responded to Thursday night's outcome. She says despite the results:

"We’ll continue to do our best for our kiddos. It’s what we do, because even when the chips are down we folks here at Monticello Central School District will continue to believe in a brighter tomorrow through education."
