A teacher's aide from Warwick is accused of bringing a gun to the school she works at in Rockland County.

According to Clarkstown police, 24-year-old Gillian Jeffords brought a handgun to the Jesse Kaplan BOCES school in West Nyack.

When a fellow staff member found the gun in Jeffords' purse in a staff closet, police say the school was placed on lockdown.

According to police when the gun was secured by the school resource officer, the school was taken off lockdown.

Jeffords was taken into custody for further questioning. They say she does have valid firearms licenses in both New York and Pennsylvania.

Jeffords was charged with criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds.

She was released on appearance ticket and is due return to Clarkstown Criminal Court at a later date.
