An Orange County Legislature sub-committee wants the state legislature and Governor Andrew Cuomo to reconsider projects like the CPV power plant in Wawayanda due to possible back-door deals from figures like ex-Cuomo aide Joe Percoco.

The sub-committee passed the non-binding resolution Thursday night.

The group Protect Orange County, whose members have been against the CPV project from the beginning, say they want the county to push for a state investigation, but they are happy there is some action at the local level.

“We’re very concerned. We're following this closely and so the legislators know, we're on top of this," said Protect Orange County member Scott Martens. "We're going to stay on top of this and we're going to propose some amendments to this resolution, and hopefully they'll listen and we'll take it from there."

The county legislator who introduced the resolution, Fifth District Legislator Katie Bonelli, says the state needs to step up.

"As the project developed, we saw that obviously there's very different problems with the project itself," Bonelli said. "And in light of the recent developments with the court findings, I had felt it was time to take a look at this and see if we can put some pressure on the state."

A CPV official has previously said the permits were all approved legally and are still valid.
