WALLKILL, N.Y. -- The town of Wallkill Supervisor says a rehab center wants to open a local location.

The Resource Recovery Center is a New York City-based organization. After hearing about the need for a center in the Hudson Valley, the group's CEO says a potential location would be the Holiday Inn in the town of Wallkill.

Resource Recovery would start with 75 beds and work up to a 190 bed capacity, and would have in-patient care. The CEO says there would not be outpatient care, to avoid competition with other healthcare facilities, and to provide a need in the community.

The center could open as early as September if it gets the go ahead from state and local officials.

Wallkill's town supervisor says he feels there is a local need, but the town board must decide if the location is appropriate.

"And our yes or no isn't  to the project, isn't to what they want to do, it's to more or less location. Do we want it in that location in the town of Wallkill?" said Wallkill Town Supervisor Ed Diana.

There are two public hearings next week where the community can learn more, and give their input next Wednesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Wallkill Town Hall, and Thursday, March 22 at the same time and location.
