KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Mayor Steve Noble kicked off the new legislative year with his state of the city address.

In his speech, the mayor discussed the city's achievements and challenges experienced over the past year. Some of those issues he outlined included improving police community relations; the need for more diversity in city and leadership positions; and cracking down on zombie properties in the city.

Aside from the challenges, Noble said he is hopeful for the future with upcoming economic development initiatives and infrastructure upgrades.

The new and re-elected members of the Common Council were also sworn in.
