MONTICELLO, N.Y. -- The manager of the village of Monticello is threatening to take landlords of a housing complex to court. He said many of the residents apartments were left without heat.

Village Manager David Sager said that many residents living in the Shaker Heights portion of the Monticello Meadows housing complex were left without heat for at least a week. Some residents say it’s been even longer than that.

One couple said frozen pipes busted in their home causing water to get everywhere. The manager said he was told by the plumber that the heat is back on now for all of the residents. He said a plumber has been on site to fix the problem throughout the week, but more needs to be done to prevent further issues. He said on Monday he will meet again with the village attorney to see what can be done to hold the landlords responsible.

The village manager said residents who were willing to relocate have been put up temporarily in motels. The mayor said there was heating issues at this same housing complex two winters ago.

Spectrum News reached out to the apartment complex for comment, but have yet to hear back.
