Alasha Santiago says she's excited about the offers she and her husband, Prince, got to work at Resorts World Catskills.

"It's gonna work out great, and we're gonna do something we both love and enjoy," said Santiago, who has been unemployed for three months. "We will be able to have someone always at home, get the kids to school, somebody at work, rotate."

Job hunters had a variety of motivations for visiting Thursday's Resorts World Catskills job fair: getting out of the house, looking for more stability, changing careers after retirement. More than 1,000 people went to the Sullivan Event Center for the recruitment event. Representatives from all the departments took applications, met with prospective employees, and made offers on the spot.

"It also gives us an idea of who's out there, and different ways we can facilitate getting people opportunities in a more direct way," said Michael Beford, vice president of food and beverage.

Executive Vice President Charles Degliomini said he saw many people complete the process from application to conditional hire. Once an offer was made, each person had to then apply for a casino gaming license in order to become employed.

"It's great to see so many people interested in coming to work at our resort casino," he said. "We're in the hospitality business. We're looking for people who understand customer service, and we're finding them. And for that, we're pretty excited."
