It's the day that would inevitably come: the first winter weather blast. It was enough to cause accumulation across the area.

And, even though winter isn't officially here yet, much of the Hudson Valley saw the frozen white stuff fall from the sky all Saturday. That first snow in the forecast has many thinking what they might need to weather the storm.

"I had to replace a shovel, the other shovel the handle was broke, it was split and I want to protect my back so I got new equipment," said Joe Yedowitz of Cornwall.

Many like Joe hit their local store to pick up much needed supplies to clean up and dig out.

"We just love when the weather people predict snow. Our sales, and all customers who come in seem to come in and pick up their last-minute shovels, all kind of ice melt, so they're prepared for the big snow storm," said Steve Feller, owner of Brett's True Value in the town of New Windsor.
