Another fund has been started by an area bank to help the City of Cohoes recover from last week's devastating fire on Remsen Street.

Keybank has donated $5,000 to the Red Cross, and will match donations up to that amount from the public.

The Red Cross has been helping more than two dozen people affected by the November 30 fire.

Assemblyman John McDonald hopes the state will consider sending the city some aid. He says the cleanup cost alone is estimated at a quarter of a million dollars.

"'Some people say, ‘well, jeez it’s a fire, fires happen every day,’ the breath of this fire to expand two to three blocks and the way it impacted both business and residence I think rises to a much higher level,” said McDonald.
