An Orange County fire official confirms a fatal chemical plant explosion earlier this month was accidental.

The county released a video of the initial explosion -- and as a note to viewers, the video is intense.

The explosion took place at Verla International on Temple Hill Road in New Windsor on November 20. The county's deputy commissioner of fire services says static electricity ignited a flammable liquid while an employee was wiping down part of the batch room. That employee did survive.

Dozens of people were injured, and one employee, 57-year-old William Huntington, died. Seven Newburgh city firefighters were also hurt responding to the fire.

The deputy commissioner says the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit had assistance from state authorities.
