The Ulster Performing Arts Center is getting ready to re-open after being closed for months for renovations.
The $5.4 million renovation allowed for a new electrical system throughout the building, a new heating and air conditioning system and new bathrooms. Representatives said the upgrades will allow the center to operate year-round and let people be more comfortable while they are there -- something they said will be good for the local economy.
"We bring over 50,000 people a year to this theater as it is right now," said Bardavon Opera House Executive Director Chris Silva. "Starting next year, we can bring 80,000 a year into mid-town, and that's a big jump of population to go to restaurants, to get babysitters."
The box office opens on November 21, and the first show at UPAC will be A Christmas Carol, starting December 1.
