Resorts World Catskills is hoping to create a Las Vegas-style experience in the heart of Sullivan County.
"We want to make this a resort destination experience, but we want out guests to have maximum comfort and enjoyment," says Charles Degliomini, the executive vice president. "In our business, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and we want their level of customer service to be beyond what they could have expected otherwise."
The new Resorts World Catskills opens next year, and Degliomini took Spectrum News on an exclusive video tour of the expansive property. He says with all the details and options, visitors should expect more than what is found at a regional casino.
He says the $1.6 billion property in Thompson isn't just for gambling. Inside the main space will be a large sports bar and a 27,000-square foot event space. The event space is big enough for a basketball game, but also can be sectioned off to host a wedding. There will be more than 100,000 square feet of gaming space with more than 2,000 slot machines and 130 table games.
More than 800 union construction workers from across the region are working six days a week to get the finishing touches ready for opening day of March 1, 2018. The casino is now hiring for table game staff and other positions, and hopes to hire more than 2,000 over the next two years.
