ESOPUS, N.Y. -- Congressman John Faso hosted the FBI in Ulster County on Monday to focus on protecting religious leaders.

They discussed keeping houses of worship safe from terrorist attacks and other acts of violence. There, FBI Albany Division Special Agent in Charge Vadim Thomas spoke to members of the community.

While Thomas said there are no reasons to believe there is a specific threat against houses of worship, acts of violence have occurred at religious institutions around the country.

Both Faso and Thomas said it is important for people in the community to know there are things people can do to stay safe.

During the presentation, Thomas also talked about several terrorist groups from the Islamic State to the white supremacist movement, and talked about challenges the FBI faces in fighting terrorism.
