KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Friendly rivalries were renewed this weekend as marching bands from across the Hudson Valley descended upon Dietz Stadium in Kingston.

People came out to see five high school marching bands compete for top honors at Fall Fanfare Sunday afternoon.

A co-chair of the battle says competitors hailed from across the region, including Midland Park, Arlington, Nyack and Mohonson.

The marching director for Kingston High School calls it their last big push before state championships in Syracuse -- pushing her students harder than they have been all year.

“Many hours a week, I mean, during school, before school, some people come in early. After school, the weekends, I mean, all through September through November, no one has a free weekend," said KHS Band Drum Major Nicole Levine.

The president of Kingston's band booster club hopes to raise between $8,000 and $10,000 from this year's event.
