POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Dutchess County Sheriffs office is collecting donations to help those affected by hurricanes this season.

The sheriff's office along with volunteers are accepting donations to send to those still recovering from Hurricanes Maria, Harvey, and Irma.

The office has held donation drives like these in the past but they say there is still a need for more.

They are requesting items such as bottled water and non perishable food, bedding, and medicine.

Those who have donated say, they're happy to do what they can.

"That island is like totally devastated, I mean they have nothing," said Rich Fishwick, donor and town of LaGrange residnet. "You know if you saw the pictures they went from a lush green island to a big brown hole with nothing going on so my little bit I can help I don't mind, you know take a Saturday morning and do what we can."

Donations can still be dropped off at the sheriff’s office located at 150 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie until 6 p.m. Saturday.
