KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Improving the physical and artistic health of the community. That's the goal of the O+ Festival in Kingston.
The festival was founded seven years ago by a doctor, dentist and artist who wanted to connect the "art of medicine with the medicine of art."
The goal of the weekend is for artists to share their music and creations, in exchange for medical services donated by local doctors and health care providers.
The event is hosting 60 bands and 25 artists who will benefit from dental care, chiropractic, and primary care.
"Especially musicians and artist who may be getting repetitive injuries, like musicians often get in car crash because they are out on the road so much, our whole clinic is curated to meet those particular needs for artists on the ground where they are," said Aimee Gardner, festival director.
Last year the event raised more than $30,000 in ticket donations.
The event grows every year and has since spread to different areas including The Bronx, Massachusetts and California.
