Adrienne Davis, 28, is floored over the recent violence in her town.

"It makes you not want to raise your kids here," Davis said with her 1-year-old son, Sebastian, in tow.

Poughkeepsie Police are investigating four shootings since October 28, that injured six people in all.

The latest shooting incident was at about 3:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Mill and Garden Streets.

Neighbors told Spectrum News they heard four or five loud pops and then heard several people screaming. Police said a 20-year-old man was shot in the chest somewhere near the intersection, and was found lying in the middle westbound lane of the arterial highway.

Back on October 28, police said they responded to a shooting near Edgar Street, and later found the 30-year-old victim when he was in a car accident on the way to the hospital.

On Halloween, just after 12 p.m., police responded to a shooting near Catharine Street. Police said someone hopped into the 34-year-old victim's car, shot him, and stole a designer backpack with thousands of dollars in cash inside.

Then, on November 1, police were called to Mansion Street and Winnikee Avenue on reports of multiple people being shot. Police say three victims suffered minor injuries, and according to a police report, the victims said they were shooting a music video at the time of the shooting.

Davis has been thinking for some time that Poughkeepsie might not be the best place for Sebastian to grow up.

"Parents want their kids to grow up to be nice, non-violent people," Davis said, "and there's just guns and drugs everywhere in this city."

Of all four incidents, no arrests have been made and police have not named any suspects.

Police also said on Monday morning that, at this point in their investigations, they do not have any information or evidence that leads them to believe any of these shootings are related.

Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call Poughkeepsie Police immediately at 845-451-7577.
