A Sullivan County man is facing charges after dozens of emaciated animals were found on his property.

Sullivan County sheriff's deputies say they were contacted last month about neglected animals at a farm in White Sulphur Springs.

They say they found several goats and sheep at the property that looked like that had not been fed properly, and issued a notice to the caretaker to provide the necessary food and water to the animals.

The sheriff's office was informed on Tuesday that the general welfare of the animals was still in decline.

Officials returned to the farm with a search warrant.

The caretaker, Lenis Pagan, was arrested and charged with five counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Deputies seized eight goats, six lambs and approximately 60 ducks and geese from the farm and relocated them to a farm in Jeffersonville.
