Saugerties Police say a father and son have been arrested on weapons charges after investigating a disturbing social media post.

Police say Bruce and Connor Chargois were both arrested Tuesday. Investigators say Connor, an 18-year-old senior at Saugerties High School, made posts on social media saying he envied the Columbine shooters and saying they "had the right idea." Earlier this month, police say Connor admitted to making the posts, but he and his father denied owning any guns.

On Tuesday, Saugerties Police say his father admitted to owning guns and removing them from the home after the first interview with police. Authorities found five guns, including an AR-15 and an Uzi hidden at Bruce Chargois' place of business.

In addition to the guns, police say they found ammunition, homemade knives, gun parts, homemade guns and a prototype gun police say Connor admitted to working on in his basement. As a result, Saugerties Police say Bruce Chargois is facing multiple charges, including two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and Connor is charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say an order of protection has been issued on behalf of the district, and additional charges could be possible against Connor.
