ESCO's, or energy service companies, provide customers with energy from a source other than their local utility company, although the product itself is still delivered by the utility company. The state Public Service Commission has been deciding which companies can operate and which ones can no longer do so. Last year on this show, we heard the case against ESCO's, saying that they lead to contracts that come with higher costs. Jim Steffes and Chris Kallaher are from Direct Energy and make the case for ESCO's.
