Solomon is a Capital Region native who has won two Associated Press awards and twice been nominated for an Emmy for his news coverage. He is also the host of Spectrum News' weekly government affairs program, "In Focus with Solomon Syed."
A well-rounded journalist, Solomon not only asks important questions of Albany's biggest power brokers and public figures, but he's also driven our coverage of countless major stories, including the 2015 Dannemora Prison Break and Syracuse University's trip to the 2016 NCAA Final Four. Prior to coming to Spectrum News, Solomon reported in Boston and on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Solomon is a proud Boston University alumnus, where he received a Bachelor's, with honors, in political science and a Master's, with distinction, in Broadcast Journalism. He also attended Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor with honors, and was an associate editor of the Quinnipiac Health Law Review and the editor-in-chief of the Quinnipiac Legal Times.
When he's not reporting on the issues and stories that matter to you, Solomon's either spending time with his family, enjoying a good cheeseburger, or rooting on his beloved Yankees, Patriots, Knicks and Rangers.
