You can see Kate Welshofer weeknights on Spectrum News. She first joined the team in 1996. After 10 years as a producer and reporter in Rochester, Kate happily made the Capital Region home.
A native of Western New York and graduate of St. Bonaventure University's Russell Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Kate's work has garnered recognition from the New York State Associated Press Association as well as the National Press Photographer's Association.
Even when she is not at the anchor desk, you'll likely still find Kate in front of or behind a camera. She is the creator and host of No TelePrompTer, No Mercy on YouTube. The channel was voted Best in the Capital Region by the readers of the Albany Times Union in 2016. She has also been featured in the Amazon Prime web series "Welcome Home," She co-wrote and co-starred in the comedic short "Test Drive Surprise" and is the leading actress in two additional short films "The Engagement Party" and "Cocktail Muerte."
Kate became a supporter of the Lustgarten Foundation to fund pancreatic cancer research following the death of her father. She is proud to participate in the Albany Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk for Hope in Albany in his memory each year. She is also an advocate for animals and has partnered with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society for video projects along with her orange cat, Brian Williams -- to whom she serves as personal valet in her spare time.
