CLAY, N.Y. — Amid the lists of stress-inducing requirements that go hand-in-hand with the holiday season, it's hard to find a moment of peace.

For Greg Rueppel, each moment is a gift. Being with his family for another Thanksgiving is nearly miraculous.

Rueppel is from Clay and has been battling stage four brain cancer for more than two years. When he was first diagnosed, Rueppel was told he only had 15 to 18 months to live. He's far surpassed that number.

Rueppel says cancer has made him appreciate every moment.

"Can't take it for granted. And that goes for anybody, not just cancer patients and what-not. Cherish the holidays and the good times with your family and friends when you can, because unfortunately you never know," said Rueppel.

There is currently no cure for glioblastoma. Rueppel credits the innovative treatments, support from his family and his active lifestyle for his success so far.
