A driver was killed in a one-car crash late Monday night.

The Oswego County Sheriff's Office, NOCA Ambulance and Altmar Fire Department were called to a crash on County Route 48 near Sheepskin Road for a crash at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The driver of a 2012 Toyota Camry, driving northbound on Rt. 48, failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the east side of the road, hitting a sign and a tree. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. There were hazardous crossing marks on the road and police believe alcohol might have been a contributing factor.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family.
