SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- CNY Arts was awarded $10,000 as Spectrum and Ovation, the nation's only arts network, partnered for the first-ever Stand for the Arts awards ceremony.

The overall goal is to keep promoting the arts with younger students, and in a more tech-savvy society, it's not always easy to stay involved.

"It's very important that we have access to the arts throughout this region especially in today's world, the 21st Century, where it's so easy to disconnect," said Stephen Butler, CNY Arts executive director.

CNY Arts serves six counties and helps distribute more than $1 million toward arts programs in the region.

Spectrum is the parent company of Spectrum News.
