An Oswego County man has three people to thank for saving his life.

They just happened to be leaving work at Sharon Chevrolet in the town of Schroeppel Friday night, when they heard someone yelling for help.

The three men ran toward the water nearby and discovered a 66-year-old man partially submerged in the Oswego River. He was somehow pinned beneath his truck.

The men were able to pull the victim to safety before troopers arrived.

State police say the victim drove across his backyard to get a view of the shoreline, and accidentally backed his truck up into the water. After attempting to free his vehicle, he became pinned underneath.

The rescuers described for us how it all unfolded.

"The first thing I'm like, 'how'd he get there?' And I'm like, 'are you pinned under the truck?' I didn't know if he was there and he's telling me something bit him, a snake bit him," said rescuer Kip Northrup.

"Kip came up, had already heard the guy asking for help, checked it out himself, needed help, come running up. Basically said there was a guy pinned under his truck in the river. I know I thought that the guy was underwater, so we ran as fast as we could down there. I was glad to see the guy wasn't completely submerged," said rescuer Daniel Degouff.

"So we're definitely fortunate that Kip was able to hear him, hear his cries for help, and that we here right in the right place at the right time and could do something quickly to get him out," said rescuer Tyler Zinsmeyer.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. He did not want to go on camera, but said he's thankful for his rescuers.
