The Friday Night Matchup will be at the Carrier Dome, where Indian River will take on Carthage with a trip to the state tournament on the line. The Warriors and Comets will make the trip down I-81 to square off in the Class “A” final, a matchup you can watch live on Spectrum News at 8 p.m.

The Comets are coming off an upset win over undefeated Whitesboro in the semifinals last weekend. Carthage used an energetic approach to take down the Warriors, a team they lost to in the regular season. At practice on Wednesday, Carthage said coming back to defeat a team like Whitesboro in the playoffs gives them confidence heading into the title game. “We obviously can beat a team that has beaten us before so that boosts our confidence,” senior wide receiver Jake Millich said.

On the other side, the Indian River Warriors are coming into the Dome at the one-seed with an undefeated record. Indian River defeated Carthage 33-21 in week one, but that doesn’t mean they’re taking the Comets lightly. Warriors running back Kwazsi Gaddis said at the Section III luncheon Monday that his coach has been preaching about how hard it is to beat a team twice. “They (Carthage) have progressed over the season and we’re looking to come out on top.”

It’ll be rivalry night at the Carrier Dome when Carthage squares off with Indian River. Tune into Spectrum News at 8 p.m. to watch. Spectrum will also be airing the Double “A” final between C-NS and West Genny on Saturday at 6 p.m.
