The Friday Night Matchup will feature a pair of teams looking to punch a ticket to the section title game. Carthage will take on Whitesboro at 7 p.m., a matchup you can catch live on Spectrum News.

The Class “A” semifinal will be held at Camden high school. Whitesboro squared off with Carthage just two weeks ago and defeated the Comets by a final score of 13-0. Although they came away with the win, they know it’ll be tough to beat the same team twice. “They’re a real good football team. Offensively they have a good scheme, defensively they fill the gaps well. The key to the game will be to do the small stuff real good,” Warriors coach Tom Schoen said at practice Wednesday.

Up at Carthage, the Comets have only lost two games in the regular season to Indian River and Whitesboro. They’re also coming off a blowout win in the quarterfinals over J-D, so they are riding that momentum into the semis. Carthage senior wide receiver Jake Millich said he was impressed with how the Comets played against the Red Rams. “I feel like we’re a different playoff team and we really came to play and played well.”

The winner of Friday’s matchup will earn a spot in the section final where they’ll play either Indian River or Auburn. The two-three matchup will be an exciting one, and you can tune into Spectrum News to watch.
