The fourth Friday Night Matchup of the high school football season features a divisional Class A contest. Auburn will travel to ESM Friday night at 7 p.m., a game you can see on Spectrum News.

Auburn has dropped down from Class AA to A this season, but that doesn’t mean their schedule has been any easier. The Maroons have had two tough losses to reigning Section III champion Whitesboro and last year’s Section IV champion U-E. The Maroons do have one win on the season over Central Square, which was impressive considering Auburn was down 14-0 at the half.

"That showed that we are a family, and we can come together when the moment is big," Luke Lukowski said at practice on Wednesday.

Over at ESM, the Spartans are looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season. On paper, their coach thinks they have a chance to claim their first sectional title since 2011.

"I know we have the makings for it," Kevin DeParde said. "I love this team. We’ve got a lot of veterans on this team, but we’re still trying to get into sync."

It’ll be homecoming at Spartan Stadium when the Maroons come to town. Tune in to Spectrum News at 7 p.m. Friday night to watch.
