Each week during ‘Friday Night Matchup,’ Spectrum News will celebrate some of the top student-athletes that Central New York has to offer. Lauren Swartz from Cortland has proven that whether it’s on grass, ice or the classroom floor, she’ll excel.

Swartz has received all-league nominations for both field hockey and ice hockey, a standout in Section 3. She’s been a member of the Lysander Lightning ice hockey travel team. She also coaches children looking to lace them up as well.

Swartz does a lot more than skate by in the classroom as well, earning an unweighted average of 98, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Swartz will receive a $1,000 scholarship, going to the college of her choice.
