On Friday night, the Whitesboro Warriors made the 11 mile road trip to play Rome Free Academy. The Black Knights, who used to be a perennial power in Class “AA” were looking to make a statement against the reigning three-time Class “A” section champs.

RFA has a new coach in Jake DerCola, who came over from Utica Notre Dame. On the other side, Tom Schoen has been the bench general for the ‘Boro for 45 seasons. Schoen’s squad wasted no time, scoring the first touchdown of the game on the ground and never looking back in a 41-7 victory.

Whitesboro was led by Lucas Casab and Thomas Morreale who both had a pair of touchdowns on the night.

“It’s great for us. It gives us more confidence going ahead,” Morreale said after the win.

The next game for Whitesboro will be at Jamesville-Dewitt (0-2) next Saturday. Rome Free Academy will also hit the road to take on C-NS (2-0) next Friday.
