GOP gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro was highly critical of his first debate with Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York City.

He said they didn't talk about one substantive issue facing New Yorkers and the only question about Upstate pertained to a new Buffalo Bills stadium.

Meanwhile, Republican attorney general candidate Keith Wofford has not debated Democrat Tish James yet. Although one debate is scheduled to be hosted by Spectrum News Tuesday, he pointed out there are still questions about whether James will participate.

Regardless, both Wofford and Molinaro said voters deserve to see debates happen outside the New York City metro region.

"Our opponent has only accepted one debate invitation in New York City, not surprisingly," Wofford said. “Somebody needs to buy her a map, to be perfectly honest, and show here where Upstate is and let her come up here and debate."

Molinaro called on the voters and the local media to apply pressure.

"If you have an opportunity to put him in a duck costume or some sort of chicken suit as the NY Post did, apparently he's willing to pay attention,” Molinaro said. “Do not underestimate the power and the importance and the responsibility of the media to call to question those candidates who aren't willing to engage in an open dialogue.”

In a statement, the governor's office said Molinaro will do anything to bring attention to his "flailing campaign" and said Cuomo will be communicating directly with the people of Upstate New York.

As for the AG debate, it's worth noting while it will be held by New York City it will be done in cooperation with all Spectrum News stations in New York and will be focused accordingly.
