Gov. Andrew Cuomo is calling on the United States Senate to block the confirmation of President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court.

Cuomo announced in remarks Saturday that Brett Kavanaugh's broad, gun-rights-friendly interpretation of the Second Amendment should make him unacceptable as a Supreme Court justice.

The governor also warned that other liberal causes will be damaged if Kavanaugh is confirmed.

"It's going to be devastating to this country. It's devastating to the Democratic Party because we believe in the exact opposite of everything they believe in. But I'm sure if Judge Kavanaugh winds up on the Supreme Court, you can say goodbye to affordable health care. You can say bye to Roe v. Wade and the woman's right to choose. You can say goodbye to any immigrant right cases that come by the Supreme Court, and you can say goodbye to any sensible gun control that any states have put in place,” Cuomo (D) said.

The governor is joined in his call to block Kavanaugh's confirmation by members of New York's Congressional Delegation, as well as representatives in the Congressional Black Caucus.
