A state assemblywoman representing parts of Brooklyn faces multiple charges after being indicted on federal fraud charges.

According to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Pamela Harris was charged with two counts of wire fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, four counts of making false statements, two counts of bankruptcy fraud, one count of witness tampering and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Prosecutors say Harris defrauded the New York City Council of more than $34,000 by falsely claiming that she would use the money for her not-for-profit group. Instead, they say she used the money to pay for personal expenses.

Harris is also accused of defrauding the Federal Emergency Management Agency of nearly $25,000 by lying about being forced out of her home by Hurricane Sandy.

If convicted of all charges, she faces more than 50 years in prison.
