SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner will not be running for Congress after all.

Miner released a statement Thursday announcing that she would not pursue a bid for New York's 24th Congressional District.

In the statement, Miner said "After much thoughtful consideration and conversations with my family, I have decided I will not be a candidate for Congress in 2018. This was not an easy decision given the magnitude of issues faced by our community, but I believe we are best served supporting other progressive leaders in this election both at home and across New York.”

Miner will be done as Syracuse mayor after this year and not eligible for reelection due to term limits.
