GM has announced some major changes.

As part of its re-organization, the company announced thousands of job cuts and the possibility of five plant closures. The company also announced it will no longer make the Chevy Volt, Cruze, and Impala, a trend that's been on the rise.

In 2016, Chrysler Fiat announced it was ending car production in the U.S. Nearly a year later, Ford said the only car it will continue to sell is the Mustang.

Looking forward, GM executives plan to invest more in electric cars.
