A moving tribute to victims of drunk and drugged driving made its way through Syracuse Saturday.

Local law enforcement participating in the 35th annual Donald H. Barrett Lights On Caravan. It proceeded through the downtown area and Syracuse University and ended at the DeWitt Fire Department.

Organizers hope to drive home the dangers and possible consequences of impaired driving - especially as we near the holiday season.

"When somebody dies due to drunk driving it's somebody's family member, somebody's friend,” said OCTSAB Exec. Committee Chair Alex Walsh. “And we just don't want anyone else to experience that so it's very important to remember those that we've lost each year."

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over the past 5 years, an average of 300 people died in drunk driving crashes the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
