7th North Street is open again after police were investigating a suspicious package.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office were called at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday when the package was found at the Pilot Gas Station on 7th North Street. A customer leaving the gas station called 911 saw the package which resembled a bomb near a fuel pump.

Nearby businesses were evacuated as police investigated the scene. The street was closed between the I-81 North on-ramp and Hiawatha Boulevard.

After reviewing security cameras, police identified the individual who left the package and was interviewed. The individual was cleaning out his truck when he placed a plastic tube on the ground between the trash can and fuel pump after the tube would not fit in the garbage.

During the investigation, they asked people to avoid the area.
