LARGO, Fla. — Friday, 3 p.m. update: Largo police located the stolen French bulldog in Tampa on Friday. Police said the suspect Bryant Farfan was not helpful in the recovery of the dog and, according to detectives, showed no sign of remorse for stealing the dog. 

Police said the dog was unharmed and returned to All About Puppies. 

Thursday, 5:30 p.m. update: Bryant Farfan was arrested Thursday afternoon by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for outstanding warrants.

He faces charges from Largo police of grand theft and identity theft.

The French bulldog has not been found, but detectives are following leads

Police also on Thursday said: "Detectives have learned that Farfan is a member of the transgender community. Earlier information indicated that Farfan may have been dressed as a disguise, however that does not appear to be the case at this time."

A man disguised as a woman is accused of using a stolen credit card and a stolen Florida driver's license to purchase a French Bulldog from a pet store in Largo.

The incident occurred on October 2 at the All About Puppies store on Ulmerton Road. 

Largo police said Bryant Farfan falsified adoption records and misled store employees regarding the dog's future home. 

The fawn colored French Bulldog is valued at several thousand dollars. 

Store employees are concerned for the welfare of the animal and are seeking information that might lead to the recovery of the puppy. 

Police are asking anyone who may recently have purchased a bulldog from Farfan to contact detectives at (727) 587-6730.
