If you have a clean driving record and a little extra time, you may be able to help veterans get to their appointments.

The Disabled American Veterans group is looking for drivers to transport veterans to and from the VA Medical Center in Syracuse. Volunteers are needed across a 14-county area ranging from the North Country down to the Southern Tier.

Many veterans need rides to both the VA Medical Center as well as regional clinics.

"We need drivers that are available one to two days a week or month,” said Edward Rogers of the DAV Volunteer Transportation Network. “It's really based on your schedule and your availability."

Drivers must be 21 years of age to be a volunteer driver for the program. For more information or would like to become a volunteer, contact the Recruiter Office at 315-425-4343, or visit DAV.org.
