With the midterm elections just days away, candidates are hitting the campaign trail with some of their biggest supporters.

First the Trumps and now the White House Press Secretary.

"The president needs a congressman that thinks like she does, that votes like she does, and stands up and fights like she does," said Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary.

Sanders stopped in Endicott and Canastota to rally with Republican Claudia Tenney for the 22nd Congressional District.

"I love that she's a small business owner. She knows what it means for somebody to hold a job. She knows how that impacts their family. She knows how that can change their life, their community. That's the person you want fighting for you, someone who understands how it works," said Sanders.

But Sanders also favors Tenney for other reasons.

"She's a mom. I can assure you that there's nobody better to run government than a mom," said Sanders.

Tenney says she's honored by the endorsement.

"She's a really strong woman, leader who is principled, she's unflappable and really carries our message really well,” said Tenney.

The republican contender is up against Democrat Anthony Brindisi. She says these midterm elections are very important, and will determine the future of Congress.

"The scariest thing to me is if we lose the house it's going to be impeachment [and] tax increases. Our economy is going to collapse and we're going to be caught in gridlock,” said Tenney.

Tenney's supporters say she's the best for the position because she will continue to help small businesses, cut taxes and push for health care reform.

"She's for us. She's very truthful. She's for Medicare, seniors, farmers, she's the best. I love her," said Joanie Miller, a Tenney supporter.

"She supports the Trump agenda as do I. I would like to see us strengthen our borders. I would like to see us strengthen our support of the 2nd Amendment,” said Mark Medvit, another supporter.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday and Brindisi has released a statement in response to the endorsement from Sanders.

"Ms. Tenney is choosing to hold another closed-door event with yet another Washington insider. I'm spending the final day of my campaign speaking with everyday New Yorkers and with an endorsement from former Republican Congressman Sherry Boehlert," said Brindisi.
