The man accused of shooting and injuring five people at a Watertown nightclub early Saturday morning has been arraigned.

Victims were reported as Fort Drum soldiers and local residents ranging in age from 19 to 23. They have all been released from area hospitals.

Police said Julio Landron-Sanchez, 31, fired a gun outside Club Rio on Franklin Street just before 1:30 a.m.

He has been charged with five counts of second degree assault and one count of second degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Landron-Sanchez was seen running from the scene and arrested nearby. Police found the handgun they believe was used in a backyard.

As for community concern, police have assured this was an isolated incident.

"It's not like we have a shooting everyday. Unfortunately when you have large crowds these incidents do happen on occasion but I am glad we were able to locate this gentlemen and he was taken off the street for today," said Joe Donoghue, Watertown detective lieutenant.

Bail is set at $50,000.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the department at (315) 782-2233.
