No more barriers, tape, drilling.

Renovations at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport are officially over.

"It's amazing. It feels wonderful to be able to unveil to our community, our region this amazing airport that is now going to welcome visitors form all over the world. It's going to be the last thing people see when they leave...It's impossible not to be 'wow'ed with the results," said Christina Callahan, Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Executive Director.

Construction crews added more than 14,500 square feet of space.

"This was a wholesale transformation. You know better than I do what an archaic airport this was it now is," said Howard Zemsky, Empire State Development Corp. CEO.

There's new floors, seating, upgraded technology and signage.

"You know where you are. You walk in and you see that wall with the S-Y-R symbol, you know that you're in Syracuse, New York, so creating that unique sense of place. Also, we've removed walls. We've taken down barriers, obstructions, so people now know where they're going," said Callahan.

Those who had a hand in the renovations and the planning process are  hoping the improvements will help bring more jobs, grow the economy and attract more tourists.

"The airport is the new front door...because the airport is no longer a place just to drop people off and pick people up. The airport is a place to do business. It's entertainment. People land here. They get a sense right away of what Central New York is all about. There's no second opportunity to make a first impression," said Governor Andrew Cuomo.
