After the recent shootings in Syracuse, a local pastor is pleading with the community.

Nitch Jones has been organizing prayer rallies for shooting victims. He believes the violence is a cycle that won't stop without organized action.

Since recent victims are young, Jones is urging parents to pay attention to their child's circle of friends and where they hang out, find out who they're contacting on their phones, and team up with neighbors to take control.

"We need to come together to create a strategic plan. Community leaders, non community leaders, we all live in this same city together and it's not this big for all of this to be happening.  Children are dying.  We are putting our children in caskets before we are watching them walk across the stage,” said Nitch Jones, the outreach pastor at Believers Chapel.

Jones suggests starting to use community centers as resources to conquer neighborhood violence.

The Police Benevolent Association is once again endorsing Congressman John Katko in his re-election bid against Dana Balter.

Members say Katko has worked closely with police regarding recent violence and the opiod epidemic. He also helped secure grants for local security, equipment for first responders, and to put more police on the streets.
